New User Default Role

Description of the control

This control sets how CMSSPM handles the New User Default Role setting on the Core Hardening page. The available options are UnenforcedEnforced, and Audit only.

This control also includes an expandable option named Override Subscriber with a different default role. Inside that area, the UI provides an Enable override checkbox and a role selector with AuthorContributor, and Subscriber.

Procedure

  1. In WordPress admin, open Posture Management.
  2. Select Core Hardening.
  3. In the WordPress Interfaces section, locate New User Default Role.
  4. Select one of these options:
    • Unenforced
    • Enforced
    • Audit only
  5. If the site should use a different default role than Subscriber, expand Override Subscriber with a different default role.
  6. Select Enable override.
  7. Choose the required role from the dropdown.
  8. Click Save changes.

Validation

After saving, reload Posture Management -> Core Hardening and confirm the selected enforcement mode is still shown for New User Default Role.

If an override was enabled, confirm that Enable override remains selected and that the expected role is still displayed in the role dropdown.
